Camera Work
Our genre being a mix of genres including hip-hop, chillstep and ochestral, the message of the music video can really vary on what is trying to be shown to the audience. '1-800-273-8255' tackles the modern teenage issues of homophobia, racism, suicide and bullying, and is conveyed through a plethora of filming conventions. One crucial one is camera work.
Close-Ups
Close-ups are one of the most crucial methods in expressing the emotion of a character. The emotion on a persons dictates the situation they are in, what is happening or what is bound to happen and therefore sets the atmosphere for the rest of the video.
Mid-Shots
Seeming that with mid-shots you can see more of a person's body, they are used to show activity and gives us more insight into what the character is doing and allows the story to progress.
Long Shots
Long shots give us more insight into the environment and the setting the characters' are in, rather than focusing on the characters activity with close-ups and mid-shots, we can see more about what they are doing or what is happening to them.

Other Camera Work
Other camera angles such as canted, extreme-long shot/close-up and others are not necessarily suitable for this genre as we are trying to convey a smooth storyline, in which emotion and mood is created more through mise-en-scene and character than camera work. This doesn't mean that we won't use some of them, they just seem less relevant to our music video than the others.
