Before Filming - Costumes, Props, Locations

Costumes, Props, Location

The theme of our music video revolves around depression, sadness, loss and suicide. To complement this constant theme we are going to focus on low-key aspects, such as costume and lighting, and focus on representation through location and storyline.

Costumes

The costumes are generally going to be very casual such as t-shirts sweaters, hoodies, track pants, jeans, etc, as this is focusing on a teenage environment, and therefore you wouldn't expect much other clothing styles, furthermore this allows us to really vary the costumes more freely, as we aren't limited by certain themes.

We are generally sticking to a very low-key/plain colour pallet to help convey the certain emotions we want, but also to assist us during editing, in that we can alter our colours without disturbing the scenes badly and avoiding code errors.

Props

We aren't planning on using props to convey the actions of the characters, but the actions they may take as a result of the emotions they are feeling, which for us will be emotions of depression and feeling suicidal. For example for one of our scenes we will be using a razor blade to convey suicide, however we will not display method, as its far too inappropriate. This is one of our major props, however other small props may be used to assist in creating a setting as such.

Locations

Our locations are't going to be very complex or unique, primarily to allow us to change or alter them where need be, so we will be using settings such as a home or homes. This is because we will be using rooms such as bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens as its easy for us to gain access to them and it suits the emotions that we will convey. Furthermore, its more suited to a teenage environment, especially as these sorts of emotions require individual thought and time, hence single rooms such as bedrooms and bathrooms will allow us to really focus on the emotions and actions of the characters.
