The song we have chosen to create a music video for is '1-800-273-8255 by Logic'. This is a very genre mixed song, as it creates several themes and emotions throughout the song. These genres include hip-hop, chillstep and moderate ochestral to create a very moving and emotional video, as the issues that the original music video tackles include homophobia, racism, bullying and suicide and is clearly conveyed through the mise-en-scene used in the video.

Locations

Locations for this genre and theme of music really depend on the emotion that is trying to be conveyed. There are locations that may potentially suit the theme more than others and completely depends on what is trying to be shown to the audience through the mise-en-scene.

This genre of music relates to themes of loneliness and pathos, as the dominant theme is about suicide and how those people who consider suicide can be helped and saved from themselves.

Examples

Several locations can be used that will comfortably match our theme. Locations such as bedrooms, bathrooms, graveyards and other places that are considered places of solitude and memory can be used to help convey several of the emotions of this song, but can also be used to tackle several issues of modern society.

Costumes

Costumes assist in determining the mood that is trying to be set and to match the song genre. Some may be very colourful and dramatic to match a happy and upbeat mood, whilst others may be very simple and bland to match a sad and lonely mood. In the case of our song, the costumes are not going to be very dramatic at all, and will stick to a very simple colour palette consisting of dark and low light colours, such as blacks, grays and whites.

The main focus of our music video is going to be to convey sadness and loneliness. The colour palette that we use is going to massively help in doing this, as the colours will help in matching the low key lighting and assist in editing post-editing - allowing us to edit dark and low light and certain colours and therefore create the setting that we desire. 

Props

Props are small yet crucial details in allowing the audience to understand what is currently happening on screen. Props define a situation and dictates what is the intention of the character and how the story will further follow, creating certain moods and changing the emotion in the atmosphere.

Examples

The props are going to be a one of the most important aspects in our music video in influencing certain moods and emotions. The props can be used to convey feelings of danger, threat, suicide and other risking emotions. This will include props such as guns, knives and other dangerous items.
